YASAY: “I WILL WIN, BY THE HELP OF GOD”: Yasay believes he can win and become the country’s vice president after the May 2010 polls, and this he can do through God’s direction.
He says he has once again placed himself in the hands of God in this third foray of his into politics, agreeing to run as vice president under Bro. Eddie Villanueva only after much praying and reflection.
“I am offering myself as a choice,” Yasay said, explaining that among those running for the vice presidency, he is the only one who grew up under the tutelage of a pastor from a Christian denomination (his father, Perfecto Sr.) and of a public school teacher (his mother), both of whom endeavoured to teach him to be righteous and morally upright all the time.
The choice is actually clear for the electorate, he said. “If they want the scions of political families or popular personalities to win even if what they have is only their names, as they have not really done anything substantial yet for the people, then it is up to the people,” Yasay added.
He said he will campaign under what he said is the “5-5-5” principle: five people who believe in what Yasay represents should recruit five other people who, in turn, will likewise recruit five more people, and so forth and so on down the line.
